Brighton weather

Brighton is the community and ski area at the very top of Big Cottonwood Canyon, a loop of cabins and lifts at about 8,730 feet under the cirque. Its weather is the canyon's destination weather: colder than the mouth by a design margin of thousands of feet, and the reason a wet morning in Cottonwood Heights can be a powder morning up here.

In summer the Guardsman Pass road opens over the ridge to Park City, and the forecast matters for that shelf road too: afternoon thunderstorms at this altitude are violent and brief, and the pass has no shelter. Check both before you commit to the top.

Getting around: SR-190 down: 14 miles to the mouth, about 30 minutes in free flow. Guardsman Pass to Park City is summer only.
