Coalville weather

Coalville is the Summit County seat, a ranching town on the Weber River east of the Wasatch crest, and the first real town east of Park City on I-80. Its weather is the far side of the Parleys story: storms that climb the canyon often thin out over the crest, and Coalville can sit in cold, clear air while Parleys Summit is in a whiteout twenty miles west. Eastbound drivers read this forecast for the run toward Echo and Wyoming; westbound drivers should read it as the calm before the canyon.

The town anchors the agricultural east side of the county, and its I-80 exits serve Echo Reservoir recreation all summer. For corridor purposes Coalville is the eastern bookend of this site's Parleys coverage: the place where the mountain drive ends and the high desert interstate begins.

Getting around: I-80 west reaches Kimball Junction in about 15 minutes and Salt Lake in about 40 in free flow.
