Summit Park is exactly what its name promises: a community in the pines at the top of Parleys Canyon, at about 6,700 feet, where I-80 crests toward the summit. It is one of the snowiest neighborhoods on the interstate system in Utah, and its forecast is the closest thing to a Parleys Summit forecast a town can have. If Summit Park is buried, the summit is buried; the cameras just confirm it.
Residents here chose the trade knowingly: mountain weather at the top of a canyon, in exchange for ten minute access to both valleys. The cost shows up on storm mornings when the interstate they live beside slows to walking pace or closes at the summit they overlook. The Parleys verdict and the summit cameras are linked here because from Summit Park, that page is local news.
Getting around: I-80 at the Summit Park exit; Salt Lake is about 15 minutes west in free flow, Kimball Junction about 8 minutes east.
